Media Fest 2021: Celebrating Connections

Since 2021 was a year when many people felt far apart, the theme of Media Fest 2021 was “connection.” The Media Fest team accepted proposals that encouraged the playful remixing and reinterpretation of traditional boundaries between media, and in particular the boundaries between art and technology/new media inspired by the event’s roots in the Communications, Culture and Technology program. We encouraged Georgetown graduate students to submit any work that pertained to our theme, “connection,” that they are proud of, in whatever medium and format. Along with faculty mentors, the Media Fest Team supported these entrants in thinking/rethinking how their work engaged its audience, what media it is using and why, and how it can be remixed and represented in a way that was new and surprising.

Creating Connections

The unprecedented times brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic made communication with others difficult. However, with the help of technology, connecting with one another is easier. We ask you to show us how you connect with your friends, families, colleagues; physical objects (foods, pets, etc); and even abstract objects. We challenged Georgetown students to show us what connection meant to them! How did you connect with your friends, families, colleagues; physical objects (foods, pets, etc); and even abstract objects? Show us what connection means to you!
